At Coeburn if you are in the band you are called a "Band Geek". . . I wish it wasn't that way but thats how it goes. . .

what gets me is the WHOLE 3rd quarter they spend their time eating and drinking soda pop. no music is played in the 3rd quarter and thats probally the reason the jjk cheerleaders danced to the coves band 2 weeks ago. cause our band was to busy stuffing there face

dont get me wrong our band is good, they won several awards this weekend but couldnt they spend a little less time eating and more time trying to cheer the indians on?

I think you're forgetting that the teams get a break at halftime, while the band plays.

20 minute halftime right? well most of the time our band sits down anyway and blows on the instrument or beat upon them. thee are 12 minute quarters so that makes it 48 minutes of physical activity , you do the math with the band...

The Kelly Band wasnt at Rye Cove - too long a drive (band has to pay for its own gas, driver, etc.) AND they had their festival to host the next day.

3rd quarter is STANDARD time off for all HS bands.
Usually have only 10 minutes of that quarter off - have to be back in the stands with 2 minutes on the clock.

They play during halftime...the cheerleaders and team get halftime off.

college band maybe?

Since 1985 (when I got into the program) I have NEVER seen a HS band play 3rd quarter, unless it's the last 2 minutes of the 3rd quarter.

When you have HS kids gong from school to home for a few minutes, back to the HS, on the road to a game, at some point they have to eat, or get something to drink and use the restroom, minimally.

Folks are also not considering that they have to stand in line with the halftime rush and wait for their food and drink.

after there musical thing they have the minumum of 5 minutes left in half. what gets me is they can actually hurry to go use the restroom. most of the halftime rush is gone because of the time. and all they do when they get back is sit and eat. y dont they eat before they come like the football team? and if i recalled corrctly the gc band played most of the 3rd quarter
